It’s amazing how South Asia has so many cultures and interpretations of wedding rituals.  Sri Lankan Tamil weddings are amongst the most colourful, vibrant weddings I photograph and they’re so different to the traditional Hindu wedding.  When I first met Varna and Sindu, they told me their families wanted to book a Tamil wedding photographer, but the couple saw the images on my instagram feed and decided to book me for their wedding photography against their wishes – no pressure Shiv!

The couple got married at Wandsworth Town Hall in South London followed by their reception at The De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in central London.  Sindu was one of the most photogenic brides I’ve ever come across, she knew how to pose and work the camera, I later found out her dad used to be a wedding photographer and she learnt a lot about posing through his business!  One of the perks of being a Tamil bride is you get to wear 2 outfits during your wedding, which bride wouldn’t want that?!

Photographing a wedding across two venues is always tricky, but I’m well organised and had sorted out my venue parking beforehand.  Have you ever been to the Connaught rooms?  That place is amazing, the high ceilings, the decor, the place just oozes sophistication.  Highlight of the wedding day has to be the choreographed dance performance at the end of the night, an 8 minute performance with 20 people, how long did that take to rehearse?!

Are you having a wedding soon?  Drop me a message, more than happy to discuss your big day!
