‘We’re 5 minutes away Shiv’ said the text from Ronil.  Proposal photo shoots are so exciting, I feel more nervous than the groom I think!  Ronil contacted me all the way from Canada, him and his girlfriend Alisha were touring Europe for a month and were coming to London for a week to meet family…and to propose!  I suggested the Pergola Gardens in Hampstead Heath as you can acquire a permit and the gardens can be closed off to the public for a few hours.

Ronil’s cousins came and set up the flowers and pictures at the proposal sport and ran off about 10 minutes before the couple came.  I waited in a quiet corner, ready with my long lens.  A couple walked past me hand in hand, they had jumped the gate to get into the gardens, they soon realised they had walked into an imminent proposal.  I’ll never forget what the bloke said to his other half.  ‘It’s only our 3rd date, I’m not proposing to you’, I was in hysterics.

As Ronil & Alisha passed me, I pretended I was photographing flowers and wildlife like someone from National Geographic.  I stayed well out of the way as he got down on one knee, Alisha had no idea for about 2 minutes, then she clocked me poking my lens through a bush – busted!  After saying hi and congratulating the couple, we had a pre wedding shoot around the gardens, they were super happy and couldn’t wait to go home and celebrate with their families.

Are you thinking of proposing to your other half?  Drop me a message, lets discuss how I can capture your special moment.
